A Date with The Kelpies

So picture the scene, it's a cold October night. You've just driven an hour in the car. You are feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement as you walk up a dark walkway to where you'll meet two large, attractive males. How will you react when you see them?

For those of you whose minds aren't in the gutter, you'll know that I am talking, of course, about the Kelpies (had a couple of you going for a second there!)

The Kelpies are the worlds largest equine sculptures. Simply put they are flippin stunning! I snapped a quick pic of The Kelpies when they were first built, however now that The Helix park is complete and the colour changing lights have been installed, the sculptures are incredible. With every colour change and every few steps, what you see changes. It's really quite mesmerising,

Standing up to 30 metres tall and weighing over 300 tonnes, The Kelpies can be found at The Helix park in Falkirk and were designed by artist Andy Scott. The life models that Andy used to design the statues are two Clydesdale horses called Duke and Baron. The statues are majestic and are so realistic to look at.

If you visit them during the day, you can take part in a 45 minute guided tour, which also allows you inside the statues - definitely on the to-do list!

If you are looking for something to do, definitely visit The Kelpies.
