Top Lip Products for Autumn

Autumn (or fall) is hands down my favourite time of the year. For those of you reading who live outside of the UK I can literally hear you saying "Wait...what? Your favourite season is one of your coldest! You live in Scotland why isn't your favourite season Summer?!" - to those people, here's my answer;

1. Like you just said, I live in Scotland, we have no summer. Not ever. What does the sun look like again?
2. Scotland just so happens to be one of the most beautiful countries in the world on a normal day, in autumn it looks 10,000 times better!

So, having a love for all things make up and marrying that up with my love of Autumn means that me writing this post was a given, it's almost a right of passage actually. The fact that each of the products I'm about to mention are all affordable, high street brands is an added bonus for you. I know, I know - I'm just that good *sly wink*

Pleasantly Surprised

The first brand we'll look at is the one I'm most surprised with - Primark. I've wanted to try Primark cosmetics for a long time now, but haven't really gotten round to it somehow. I think having sensitive skin has potentially made me a bit wary of trying brands that are as cheap as Primark. Any way I picked up 3 of their products to try;

PS Matte Long Last Lipstick in the shade 'Naked'.

This is a warm toned, browny nude although on me it looks quite copper. It is such a gorgeous, easy to wear autumn colour. Perfect for a day where you want to want a subtle pop of colour without bringing out the big guns!

How to wear: This colour would look gorgeous with a soft smoky eye and natural skin.

PS Lipstick and Lip Liner Pencil both in the shade 'Hot Gossip'.

These two products work well together; where the lip pencil can be a tad drying, the lipstick is quite balmy - perfect combo. The colour is incredible, a bright plum. Perfect if you're looking to make an entrance!

How to wear: Add a kohl eyeliner to the top and bottom waterline and smoke it out to take this look from day to night.

Nyx up...

NYX is a brand that hasn't really been readily available in Scotland, however Boots are changing that. Thank you Boots!!!! I have wanted to try the Soft Matte Lip Creams for an eternity and this gave me the perfect excuse to do so! I bought them in the shades 'Zurich' and 'San Paulo'

Zurich is another coppery brown colour, whereas San Paulo is perfectly described by NYX as a 'plummy pink' what I love about these products is the consistency. They apply like creamy balms and are not drying at all and the colour payoff is fab.

How to wear: Both shades would look stunning paired with a dramatic winged eyeliner.

On Sleek

Next up is Sleek - if you haven't heard of Sleek Make up you must live under a rock you are really missing out! Sleek products are amazing and soo affordable! So I chose two from their range;

True Colour Lipstick in the shade Mulberry is a gorgeous deep cool tone purple. This products has a sheen finish which is keeps the lips hydrated - great for those colder mornings!

How to wear: Worn with a strong brow and a splash of blush, this colour is the perfect vampy look this autumn.

Matte Me Lip Cream in Rioja Red is the classic, elegant red. This colour is just stunning! Although it's matte it doesn't dry the lips out (although if you are worried about that - apply some vaseline before a matte lip product)

How to wear: Keep the rest of the face to a minimum and pair this with a subtle winged liner - gorgeous!

Lady in Red...

Seventeen's Date Night is another beautiful red, however it is slightly more orange than the Matte Me. It's also not as pigmented as the Matte Me, but it is build able. For me, this one is definitely more wearable during the day.

How to wear - Channel your inner Meghan Trainor and make it all about that base - flawless skin and a gorgeous highlight will compliment this lip colour.

My All Time Fave

I hate to say it but it always comes back to Mac. Odyssey is THE perfect colour for me for autumn, in fact it's what I have on in the image of me on this blog. I can wear it with anything and I get so many compliments. It's a subtle plum although the fact that it has a frost finish is what I love. It's slight sheen is what finishes it off I LOVE it.

How to wear - with a smoky purple eye for a deep autumn look.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it (and researching LOADS of lip products for it - not going to lie!)

I'm always on the lookout for new lip products/colours so drop me a comment letting me know what's your favourite!
